Absolutely, yes. My focus is on mending the divide in Texas by listening to those in the middle of the political spectrum and listening to the blue and white collar middle class and incorporating their views while only considering the demands of the extreme right and left in the hope of finding the rare nugget of wisdom.
Existing regulations, not the Clean Power Plan, killed the coal plants in ERCOT just like Abbott was told in 2015. He failed to ensure enough thermal generation, (natural gas combined cycle plants) were constructed to replace them, and to build the extra needed to account for increased consumption. He relied on the increase in wind and solar alone.
I realize it's a pain and a one page read, but download the document found on the electric grid page.
Thank you Emmett. We need to mend the spear's shaft, not fracture it. Mend the divide by focusing on the blue and white collar middle class and middle class values.
There is a battle at both the national and Texas level. Extremists on the right are chipping away and are getting away with it because the Texas Democratic Party has drifted too far left. The middle class has felt abandoned by the party. The Republicans control the Governor, Senate and House (and for over 20 years). With that control, the extreme right can chip away at those rights. I hope to one day be considered worthy to stand in LBJ's shadow, but you can bet LBJ, a conservative Texas Democrat would not have let Texas slip so far to the left that a Republican majority could cut into his work.
Marie, I really don't know. But there's an old saying, "Follow the money." Our coal plants bought coal from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. Follow Abbott's money to see how much he or PAC's supporting him received from Wyoming businessmen or businesses.
Yes. Legalize cannabis.
